Offsite Monitoring

Many of our customers require continual monitoring of their systems to minimize response time and avoid costly downtime in the event of equipment failure. However they also have operating budgets that do not allow for the proper staffing to respond timely. In response to our customers need, Havel has the solution through our "Offsite Monitoring" system.

Our system allows automatic receipt of alarms via modem and re-transmission of alarms (via voice message) to any location, including pagers. Critical alarms can be sent to owners, managers, maintenance staff or directly to Havel's 24 hour answering service operation. If the alarm is sent to our office, the appropriate service technician will be dispatched to investigate the alarm. The customer no longer needs his staff to respond to every alarm.

Following are some examples of critical alarms that can be monitored:

Space Tempature and Humidity:

  • Air handling equipment operation
  • Boiler status
  • Chiller status
  • Freezer storage temperatures
  • Oven/heat treatment processes
  • Air compressor operation
  • Sump pumps

Sewage Ejector Pumps:

  • Intrusion detection
  • Computer room alarms
  • Emergency generators
  • Tank monitoring
  • Smoke and fire secondary alarming
  • Phase loss monitoring
  • Indoor air quality monitoring

How Does the "Offsite Monitoring" system work?

1. The program provides monitoring of critical equipment through the use of direct digital control (DDC) installed in your facility. If you currently do not have an automation or monitoring system installed, Havel will perform this installation for you. The cost of implementing our program to your facility may pay for itself with just one critical alarm.

2. The owner provides a dedicated telephone line for our modem. When a critical alarm occurs, this modem dials out an alarm to our "Offsite Monitoring" system located within the Havel office.

3. Our "Offsiite Monitoring" system will receive the alarm via modem and log it into the monitoring system database. In addition, the alarm will be printed on a detected alarm printer for hard copy purposes.

4. Upon receipt of your alarm by our "Offsite Monitoring" system, a special set of instructions will determine where the alarm (in voice format) will be sent. Options are as follows:

  • Call your maintenance staff in occupied or unoccupied mode of operation. You may want your staff to resolve the problem being encountered. Or, Havel service technicians are just a phone call away.
  • Call the Havel answering service during unoccupied periods and have one of our service technicians respond.
  • Call the Halvel service dispatch during occupied time period. You are then notified that a critical alarm has occurred and are asked if you want a Havel technician to respond.
  • Call an appropriate pager and leave a message.
